Timothy Wu

Associate Professor of Law, Colombia Law School

Tim Wu's research is at the intersection of international, copyright, and telecommunications law. Wu graduated from McGill University with First Class Honours in 1995, and magna cum laude from Harvard Law School in 1998. After a stint at the Department of Justice Office of Legal Counsel, he clerked for Chief Judge Richard Posner of the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals, and Justice Stephen Breyer of the Supreme Court of the United States.

Wu came to academia from the telecommunications industry, where he worked in international and domestic marketing. He has also been a fellow at the University of Toronto Law School, taught at the United Nations Development Program in Katmandu, Nepal and taught at Kyushu University in Fukuoka, Japan. He is a term member of the Council on Foreign Relations, and currently a visiting professor at the University of Chicago.
