Steven Starr

Steven has 30 years of experience in media and creator empowerment. His efforts in online media include the launch of Indy.tv, a free recommendation engine for independent musicians; and Dijjer.org, an open source zero-bandwidth technology for independent creators.
Previously, Steven managed KPFK-FM, the largest community radio signal in the U.S. He also co-founded Intel-backed P2P pioneer Uprizer; user-generated content site AntEye.com; and the LA Independent Media Center.
Past lives include stints as a writer, director and producer of award-winning indie films (Joey Breaker, Johnnie Suede); co-creator/producer of THE STATE for MTV & CBS; and head of the NY Motion Picture Division for the William Morris Agency. His passion for empowering artists was born at the beginning of his career, when he was a concert promoter for Bob Marley & the Wailers. He holds a BA from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
