Michael Mandel
Visible Economy LCC
Michael Mandel is an internationally known economist and prize-winning economic journalist. As chief economist at BusinessWeek, he helped direct the magazine's coverage of the domestic and global economies. His particular areas of expertise: How innovation drives growth, and the inability of the official economic statistics to properly measure today's economy.
After leaving BusinessWeek in December 2009, he founded Visible Economy LLC, a new venture which combines business and economic journalism with education. He regularly writes and speaks on innovation and the economy, including his blog Innovation and Growth.
Michael earned his Ph.D. in Economics from HarvardUniversity. He was named one of the top 100 business journalists of the 20th century, and has received multiple awards for his work, including being named "Best Economic Journalist" for 2006 by the World Leadership Forum. He is the author of four books, including a new introductory economics textbook, Economics:The Basics, now being used in college courses across the country.
