Larry Alder

Larry joined Google in Sept 2005 as a member of the Alternative Access Group focused on Google's mission of making information "Universally Accessible." In that spirit, he co-lead Google's Municipal Wifi activities, including the Free Municipal Wifi network, which provides free Wifi coverage to the entire city of Mountain View. Larry is currently working on spectrum policy initiatives, including openness provisions in the 700MHz band and the opening up of TV whitespaces for wireless internet uses. Larry is also working with satellite broadband company 03B to help bring affordable broadband to developing markets. Prior to joining Google, Larry spent 10 years at ArrayComm, including roles as VP of Technology Development and VP of Product Management. Prior to joining ArrayComm, Larry received his PhD from Stanford University in the specialty of Control Theory, and spent three years as a Senior Control Systems Engineer at Adept Technology.
